Troubleshooting

This guide helps you resolve common issues with iClock. If you can’t find a solution here, please contact support through the app or website.

Problem: I see both iClock’s and Apple’s digital clocks in the menu bar.

Solution: Change Apple’s clock to analog format:

For Mac OS 13, 14+ (Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia):

  1. Open System Settings
  2. Search for “Control Center”
  3. Scroll to “Menu Bar Only” section
  4. Click “Clock Options” button
  5. Select “Analog”

For Mac OS 12 and earlier:

  1. Go to System Preferences → Dock & Menu Bar
  2. Select “Clock Menu Bar” on the left
  3. Change from “Digital” to “Analog”

Problem: iClock doesn’t start when I double-click it.

Solutions:

  1. Check Location: Ensure iClock is in your Applications folder
  2. Permissions: Right-click iClock → Open (for first launch)
  3. System Requirements: Verify your Mac OS version is supported
  4. Restart Mac: Sometimes a restart resolves launch issues
  5. Redownload: Download a fresh copy from plumamazing.com

Problem: iClock doesn’t launch automatically when I log in.

Solutions:

  1. Enable in Preferences:

    • Open iClock Preferences
    • Go to iClock:General tab
    • Check “Start at Login”
  2. Check Login Items:

    • System Settings → General → Login Items
    • Add iClock if missing
    • Remove duplicate entries
  3. Reset Login Items:

    • Remove iClock from login items
    • Re-enable “Start at Login” in preferences

Problem: Alarms don’t sound or notify properly.

Solutions:

  1. Check Permissions:

    • System Settings → Privacy & Security → Notifications
    • Enable notifications for iClock
  2. Do Not Disturb:

    • Disable Do Not Disturb mode
    • Check Focus modes aren’t blocking notifications
  3. Volume Settings:

    • Check system volume
    • Test alarm sound in preferences
    • Verify sound file isn’t corrupted

Problem: Calendar events don’t appear in iClock.

Solutions:

  1. Calendar Permissions:

    • System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars
    • Enable access for iClock
  2. Calendar Selection:

    • iClock Preferences → Date:Menu Calendar
    • Verify correct calendars are selected
    • Check calendar visibility settings

Problem: iClock is using too much processor power.

Solutions:

  1. Reduce Features:

    • Disable unused floating clocks
    • Turn off real-time features
    • Reduce update frequency
  2. Restart App: Quit and relaunch iClock

If iClock has persistent issues, reset all settings:

  1. Quit iClock completely
